Did I mention I was going to LA? I'm back now, of course, but here are some of the highlights:
Somewhere around Wednesday, we began to refer to this trip as the "Progressive Dinner Tour." We'd visit a family member or friend, have a meal, then move on. It was like that for the better part of a week.
After that, my husband and kids drove home and I stayed in LA for the fabulous annual writers' conference. That was fun - I'll post a picture in a day or two.
The trip home was a little nerve wracking, though. Not the flight, but the short trek from the hotel to the airport. The shuttle driver was drunk, I'm sure of it, not to mention completely surrounded by cell phones which kept going off, at which point he'd look down to check the screen while almost-but-not-quite driving off the road. I was writing my own obituary inside my head: "Promising young author killed in tragic Super Shuttle accident en route to LAX - driver survives." I did meet a nice woman standing in line waiting to board the plane. We chatted all the way home, which took my mind off the taking off part and the landing part, and that part in the middle where we are up in the air.
Whenever someone goes to a conference (teachers do this a lot - I know this because I'm a teacher and I do this every time) they come back with a mountain of great ideas and the next thing you know, everything's changing. In that spirit, I'm thinking of changing my website and blog. But don't worry - I'll bring you with me if I do. :)
